Our Rose geranium is harvested from the leaves and flowers of the bourbon variety (Pelargonium x asperum) which is a hybrid of P. radens and P. Capitatum. This cultivar rose is identified as Pelargonium roseum asperum -Bourbon. Also commercially named Pelargonium graveolens. Geranium Bourbon essential oil is considered a middle note in aromatherapy. This hybrid is the most commonly used pelargonium in the fragrance/perfume industry.
Note that: Regardless of its botanical name, vendors may list the source of geranium and rose geranium essential oil under Pelargonium graveolens. However, There are many cultivars of P. graveolens they differ from species and have a wide variety of scents since they are often a hybrid.
Uses:
Geranium Essential oil can be applied topically, through direct inhalation, in the bath, compress or used with a diff-user. This oil is considered a must-have first aid oil and in aromatherapy, a valuable oil used to promote the appearance of clear skin and healthy hair glow.
Topical use:
Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with a carrier oil to avoid any skin sensitivity.
Bath or massage blends: Rose Geranium oil can be diluted in a bath to assist PMS and menstrual regulations or blend in massage oil. Geranium is an excellent foundation for massage and body oils.
Adding to creams, lotions, or shampoos: Geranium is great for both dry and oily hair. Apply a few drops to your shampoo or conditioner.
Diffusion: Diffuse aromatically to support calm and relaxation (3-4 drops in the diffuser).
Rose geranium oil is also used in foods and beverages as a flavoring.
